Can I talk to you about zombies?

I want to know if there's any good zombie fiction that really focuses on the downfall part of a zombie apocalypse. Like the story begins before there's any problems then goes through the process of the zombies spreading / society crumbling.

Usually it's like boom now there's zombies and they're everywhere all over all at once and nobody saw them coming until just now. Or else it skips over it completely and the story begins post-apocalypse. OR it tries to cover the pre-epidemic to post-apocalypse and it just sucks (fear the walking dead)

I wanna read / watch something that does it good.

Cell by Stephen King, but don't finish the whole book (not hard)

    Though those aren't traditional zombies

I suppose not. I always found a zombie apocalypse to be a stupid concept. Zombies are at a huge disadvantage compared to humans after a time. In time we would no longer regard them as human and killing them would be like setting up rat traps.

Yeah it gets away from what you or anyone are looking for in a zombie story

The early parts are entertaining though

Dawn of the dead 2004 does that pretty effectively.

Monsters come in many shapes and sizes . I'm all of them

That's one of the reasons why I like Shaun of the dead. There is one day of panic and mayhem and than everything is business as usual after.

    Hail to the king.

That ending was great. His buddy chained in the shed and just pushing him away when he tries to do something other than play Genesis.

I think it depends on the type of zombie and how it spreads.

There is only one type of zombie.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I liked the World War Z novel (ignore the movie). It showed how things went down around the world and how the survivors got things under control.

How so? If I remember right she goes to sleep and everything seems ok then she wakes up and a zombie bites her husband in bed.

The movie has very little to do with the book, just FYI.

    What movie-based-on-a-book does?

Well that's what you wanted isn't it ? Everything normal one minute , gone to shit the next? Unless i missed something.
