Ahoy, everyone! I have decided to make a series of threads, since I just watched Toonami and now can't sleep, that cover the last 5 years of Toonami in retrospect and their best episodes. Here's how this will go:

End of August: Top 12 of 2012
End of September: Top 13 of 2013
End of October: Top 14 of 2014
End of November: Top 15 of 2015
And finally, at the end of December, the Top 16 of 2016!

So, without further ado, I give you...

    TOONAMI'S TOP 12 OF 2012
    [According to Alchemist81]

#12: Casshern Sins Episode 8 - A musical number featuring the vocal stylings of Caitlin Glass as background music over Casshern laying waste to a whole horde of robots. Seemed to stand out against the rest of the show.

#11: Samurai 7 Episode 3 - Not really sure what happened in this one, but I do remember that I didn't care too much for the show until I saw this episode.

#10: ThunderCats Episode 2 - The passing of the torch from Claudus (the original voice of Lion-O) to the new Lion-O as the entire kingdom of Thundera is destroyed and the group of Lion-O, Tygra, Cheetara, Wilykat, Wilykit, Panthro, and Snarf are its sole survivors!

#09: Naruto Episode 1 - Meet the #1 Knucklehead Ninja!

#08: Sym-Bionic Titan Episode 8 - This one gets the nod because it's the flashback episode in which we see into the explosive past of Lance and Ilana. Some of the best action in the entire show!
    SORRY, NO GIF AVAILABLE

#07: Eureka 7 Episode 1 - If only because it's funny to hear JYB as Renton going around saying "This Sucks!" and this is also where he gets the Nirvash!

#06: Ghost In The Shell 2nd Gig Episode #26 - The one in which the Tachikomas make the ultimate sacrifice for the future of Section 9.

#05: InuYasha Episode 7 - InuYasha wields Tessaiga for the first time, and uses it to defeat his brother Sesshomaru in his ultimate form!

#04: Cowboy Bebop Episode 26 - The classic brought to life in a new light as part of Toonami!
    http://67.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m3mnu3OLBr1rt2h44o1_400.gif

#03: FMA: Brotherhood Episode 62 - The peak of the action of this legendary series, and the one in which Ed manages to get his limbs back!
    http://66.media.tumblr.com/cc18063d3bcea6777e5818df8cf5cbe0/tumblr_n05p2aMpsM1shff2jo1_500.gif

#02: Deadman Wonderland Episode 6 - This one was bleep-tastic, but certainly an affirmation that the Toonami we were watching was NOT your kid brother's Toonami, as this one had lots of edgy dialog, great animation, and even a flip-off from Ganta!
    http://67.media.tumblr.com/644ae51f988e9a460af010bd57283e22/tumblr_njerpuJuCs1rvb8cmo1_400.gif

#01: Bleach #271 - This one highlighted the best part of the Ichigo vs. Ulquiorra fight, which is arguably the strongest battle of its entire 366-episode run, so it easily wins the year 2012.

Note: these GIFs are only from their respective episode if I could find it, but may be from anywhere in the show. This will get better as these countdowns get newer and newer!

So toward the end of September, I'll be posting the Top 13 of 2013. Later!

(Sees Deadman Wonderland ranked #2 and leaves this thread forever)

And the Universe said, "Let there be Zeni's YouTube Channel". And so it was. And it was good.

It was a really close race between that and Bleach #271; I almost put Deadman at #1.

Or did you believe it should be ranked lower?

It's one of the opposite of best anime I've ever seen.

Deadman and Casshern.... those are both just dismally bad anime.

Casshern is boring and Deadman is just a mess. They shouldn't be on a best of anything list ever.

Agreed completely. After the first episode or two of Deadman, I thought, "This might be pretty good", and then it quickly fell apart. The Toonami producers didn't pick the right series to revive the block, but I guess it worked out in the long run anyway.

maybe if deadman had not been canned in japan it would have been better

"Here Comes A New Challenger!-D.VA(Hana Song)"

I still think they just pick anime out of a hat. Or because it looks pretty.

I'm like 99 percent sure they don't watch any of this stuff and just pick it up based on buzz.

In terms of being boring, I think Casshern matches IBO. Deadman at least entertained me a bit despite being hopeless in the plot department.

Casshern actually had an interesting and unique plot but the way it was executed was just awful and enough to put anyone to sleep.

Deadman..... never make an anime where the MC whines and cries in every single episode.

Deadman is one of those anime where everyone and their dog SWEARS the manga is 1000x better.

Tenchi Muyo GXP (Episode 1-8): Never has an ending theme been so on the nose, but that's what makes GXP such a great satire of modern anime.

Cowboy Bebop HD (Boogie Woogie Feng Shui, Wild Horses, and Gateway Shuffle): Hey, when I'm choosing the best anime, I gotta choose the best episodes.

Black Dynamite (Honky Kong or White Apes Can't Hump): It's not anime, but its the most action packed episode of an action series for an action block.

    Muscle, muscle! Hustle, hustle!

Really?? Strictly speaking, Cowboy Bebop HD wasn't on in 2012. And there was no way in HELL anything GXP would have made this list (hell, it was a struggle putting Casshern at #12!) As for Black Dynamite, disqualified because not Toonami, although I believe the show might have actually done better if they'd broken down that barrier and played it at 3 after Hellsing Ultimate instead in 2014.

Another day, another anime thread gets trolled.

Black Dynamite SUCKED BTW. No action. None. Movie was good though. Honestly was expecting that dude to play Luke Cage.

Who is trolling? Looks like honest opinions to me.

The best anime they had at that point were just leftovers from ASA
    FMA Brotherhood
    Stand Alone Complex
    Cowboy Bebop

I agree with that Casshern Sins ep. I never knew Caitlin Glass had such a beautiful voice! Seriously,. why didn't she ever try to put out an album or go on Broadway?

The Cowboy Bebop- I'd go with my favorites. Mushroom Samba (of course), Gateway Shuffle, Heavy Metal Queen, My Funny Valentine, bohemian Rhapsody....

Some days, some nights, some live, some die in the name of the Samurai!

    Never underestimate a woman!

See ya, Space Cowboys and Cowgirls!
